      Quality + Care®, Application Form

      Silver

  • All information provided as part of this online application form will be kept completely confidential and used only as part of reviewing the application for Silver accreditation. No details will ever be shared with any other parties.


  • Where requested, supporting documentation must be provided.


  • You must be registered for GST if sales from your taxable activity are at least $60,000 a year or if you add GST to your prices.
  • Please provide the name of your qualified professional. A copy of their qualification must be provided.
  • No person shall use any premises as a hairdresser's shop or barbershop unless the premises are for the time being registered by the appropriate local authority.
  • Professional product companies invest time and money into creating superior products that meet the needs of salons/barbershops, all while caring for clients and their hair.
  • The training of your staff, either qualified or on their journey to be, demonstrates your support to the growth and sustainability of the hair industry, another value Hair & Barber New Zealand deems important enough to be included in the Quality + CareĀ® accreditation programme. Examples of this could include: ā€¢ One or more staff members signed into an apprenticeship scheme ā€¢ Supporting Gateway students ā€¢ Training of your staff or the wider industry ā€¢ Industry Assessing ā€¢ Tutoring.
  • Employers must pay at least the training wage ($16.94 per hour) to anyone 20 years of age or older who undertakes 60 credits per year of industry training. H&BNZā€™s recommendation and criteria for Silver accreditation are that a Fair Wage is $18.92 (80% of the Living Wage) to attract people to work in the hair industry, and therefore this rate should be paid to Apprentices. Earn better, learn better & live better.
  • Want to attract creative and passionate stylists/barbers to your team? Show them how you support and encourage their dreams by showcasing their work via competitions. Competition work is incredibly motivating and rewarding. It showcases your talent to the industry and allows you to build relationships outside of the salon. Some examples of competitions are: ā€¢ Hair Industry competitions (including Instagram) - Wella Trend Vision - Battle of the Barbers - The Industry Awards - H&BNZ Instagram Challenge - Goldwell Colour Zoom - Behind the Chair One Shot Competition ā€¢ Business Competitions
  • Many businesses support their local community or charities with events and awareness. Interaction with the community outside of the workplace helps to create strong relationships and increases the well-being of individuals and whanau. Examples of this could include: ā€¢ Donating some products for a raffle ā€¢ Donate your time at an event ā€¢ Sponsor a team or an activity ā€¢ Participate in a local fundraiser walk
  • Please provide a list of the professional development you and your team have undertaken in the previous 12 months and provide evidence from at least one in-person course attended. (Eg. certificate/proof of attendance signed by the Presenter) The expectation from the client is that their stylist or barber is current with new techniques, technology and has kept their skill set relevant. Professional development could include, but is not limited to: ā€¢ In-house staff training or meetings involving practical skills, product knowledge or KPI performance growth. These could be facilitated by salon or barbershop owners, trainers, or representatives from professional product companies. ā€¢ External workshops ā€¢ Business or social courses
  • If you are not a member of Sustainable Salons you will need to complete the Green Accreditation Application form. Green Accreditation is accredited to salons/barbershops that show they have implemented environmentally sustainable policies and practices and can demonstrate a commitment to building a greener future for their salon/barbershop. The following areas are examples of want is required for Green accreditation: ā€¢ Waste Reduction - What recycling services do you use/what products are recycled? ā€¢ Energy and Water Efficiency - Water saving measures/energy saving measures ā€¢ Sustainable Purchasing - Environmentally friendly hair care range/sustainable dĆ©cor/furniture ā€¢ A Green Salon Policy - How do you support staff & clients to participate in the businessā€™s environmentally sustainable practices?

  • Welcome to the Quality + CareĀ® Accreditation Programme. Once your application has been received we will send you an invoice for the one off application fee ($57.50 incl GST) and the Quality + Care membership fee ($345.00 incl GST annually) NO payment is required . if you are applying to move up a level.

    There is no cost for Hair & Barber New Zealand members.
